October 1st 1869 marked the beginning of a worldwide success story - the first portcard ever started its journey in Austria-Hungary. Even nowadays, sending and receiving of postacard still is a beloved tradition. Sent from holidays, for an anniversary, to friends, family or strangers via Postcrossing - there is always a good reason to send a postcard or two. On October 1st 2019 many people celebrated the 150th anniversary of the postcard. Following this tradition, Postcrossing declared October 1st to be World Postcard Day.
